Tweet from twitter @ iPhoneMania_jp iPhone Mania November 27, 2021 09:04 Approximately 2 minutes and 14 seconds until reading The share of CPU architecture for smartphones is currently almost monopolized by Arm architecture, but RISC-V is an open architecture. It seems that smartphones that adopt the above will first appear in 2022 . The video shows how the Android OS is already running .This video was posted by Twitter user Sipeed (@SipeedIO).

You can see Android 10 running on a Xuan Tie C901 board with a RISC-V architecture CPU . The board was developed by Alibaba Group's T-Head Semiconductor, which was demonstrating an Android OS running on a prototype board earlier this year. In this post, Sipeed states that in 2022 there will be smartphones with RISC-V architecture CPUs .
Chinese companies have a keen interest in RISC-V architecture. The Arm architecture is heavily tied to foreign patents and rights, and political factors can suddenly make it unusable one day, just as Huawei was hit hard by sanctions. RISC-V, on the other hand, has an open architecture and is attractive to Chinese companies that want to reduce their dependence on the West . In addition, since it can be used without a license fee, not only Chinese companies but also Apple and Intel are paying attention, and it is an architecture that is expected to spread in the future. The RISC-V architecture has already been adopted for the security chips of the Google Pixel 6 series.
