Tweet from twitter@iPhoneMania_jpiPhone ManiaOctober 11, 2021, 08:09, approx. . However, since the company's inventory of Kirin chips has run out and 5G communication cannot be used due to sanctions, it seems that it is developing a smartphone equipped with a 4G version of the Snapdragon 898.

Huawei has been subject to various restrictions due to US sanctions. One of them is the inability to manufacture advanced chips. As a result, Huawei has been unable to develop or manufacture its own Kirin chips, and has used inventories of already-manufactured Kirin chips to manufacture smartphones. However, there are reports that Kirin chips are out of stock, and it seems that it is becoming difficult to install Kirin chips in new smartphones.

For this reason, Huawei is considering using a chip made by Qualcomm, a major system-on-chip (SoC) for smartphones. However, since 5G communication technology cannot be used due to sanctions from the United States, it is said that a 4G version of the Snapdragon 898 is being tested with an engineering model of the Mate 50. The information comes from Weibo user ChanganDigitalKing, who says that the 4G version of the Snapdragon 898 will be used exclusively by Huawei. On the other hand, there are reports that Huawei will manufacture its own chips in Wuhan from 2022.

On the software side, Huawei has dropped Android in favor of its own HarmonyOS 2. HarmonyOS 2 is on track, with 120 million smartphones already running the OS and no reported glitches. More than 300 million smartphones are expected to run HarmonyOS 2 by the end of the year. In addition, Huawei seems to have obtained a number of patents related to 6G, the next-generation communication standard.
