KDDI and Okinawa Cellular Telephone announced on January 11 that Huawei's WiMAX 2+ routers "Speed Wi-Fi NEXT W04" and "Speed Wi-Fi HOME L01" will be released after mid-February.
Both models support high-speed communication with a maximum downlink speed of 440 Mbps by using "4 x 4 MIMO" and "Carrier Aggregation (CA)" together. In addition, the speed of uplink communication has been increased to a maximum of 30 Mbps (three times the conventional speed) by applying CA and adopting "64QAM" modulation.

Speed Wi-Fi NEXT W04
W04 is a mobile type WiMAX 2+ router. Unlike the conventional mobile WiMAX 2+ router, it has a big feature that it adopts a vertical design. Two body colors, green and white, are available. The body size is about 130 (height) x 53 (width) x 14.2 (depth) mm, and the weight is about 140g.
Communication modes are "high performance" that emphasizes communication speed, "normal (default)" that achieves a battery life of 9 hours or more (nominal value) by adding certain restrictions to the use of CA, and prohibits the use of CA. There are three types of "battery save" that will extend the battery life. It does not have a WiMAX communication function.
Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) is compatible with IEEE 802.11ac / a / b / g / n (2.4GHz band / 5GHz band), and up to 10 units can be connected at the same time. If your device has an NFC reading function, you can set up a wireless LAN connection just by touching W04. It also supports Bluetooth tethering (PAN). The USB terminal used for USB tethering and charging is Type-C. A charging cradle with a wired LAN terminal is also available as a manufacturer's option.

Speed Wi-Fi HOME L01
L01 is a stationary WiMAX 2+ router. It has a simple cylindrical design and is available in white only. The body size is about 180 (height) x 93 (width) x 93 (depth) mm, and the weight is about 493 g.

The L01 can use 2.4GHz band and 5GHz band wireless LAN at the same time, and up to 20 units (40 units in total) can be connected simultaneously in each frequency band. It is said that the radio wave strength is such that even a single apartment with 3LDK (70 to 80 parallel meters) can communicate smoothly. If your device has an NFC reading function, you can set up a wireless LAN connection just by touching W04. You can also make initial settings from your smartphone / tablet by scanning the QR code on the back of the main unit. Two wired LAN ports (1000BASE-T / 100BASE-TX / 10BASE-T compatible) are also available for home use.
The main unit is also equipped with a USB 2.0 terminal, but it is "for future function expansion" (related person) and cannot be used at this time.
