Huawei announces "EMUI10" Dark mode, call synchronization on multiple devices, etc. to be installed in the next Mate series

Huawei announced "EMUI10" at a developer conference held in Dongguan, Guangdong, China on August 9 (local time). EMUI is a proprietary UI (user interface) installed on Android, and is used in Huawei smartphones.

Mr. Wang Chenglu, head of the Huawei Consumer Business Group software department, who took the stage at the developer conference

EMUI10 has newly adopted a "dark mode" that makes the screen background black. Placing the text on a dark background with a comfortable contrast ensures visual consistency, comfort and readability.

You can also connect to multiple devices and apps and sync the same content. For example, it is possible to synchronize voice calls and video calls with multiple smartphones, display the call screen of the video call on a TV or in-vehicle screen, or switch to a drone shooting screen while using a video call.

These are said to be realized with "distributed technology" that virtualizes the hardware functions of each terminal. By separating the display, camera, microphone, speaker, etc., and using them as needed, they are shared with each other. Only devices authenticated by the user can be connected, and communication between devices is end-to-end encrypted.

This EMUI10 will be adopted in the next Mate series. The Mate series is usually announced at the home appliance event "IFA" held in September and officially announced in October. 2019 is likely to follow this schedule.

The update rates of EMUI 8.0 and EMUI 9.0 have reached 79% and 84% respectively, and Huawei expects 150 million users to update to EMUI10.
