Unique NTT East and West network
Before explaining the service and functions, I would like to briefly review NTT East and West and its network.NTT East and West is quite special, both as a company and a network, without seeing any other countries.
You must know two things to understand the NTT East and West services.
NTT East and West does not provide Internet connection services to users.ISPs such as BIGLOBE and OCN provide Internet connection services.Certainly, OCN is provided by NTT Group's NTT Communications, and companies such as NTTPC Communications and Plala, a group company, provide Internet connection services.However, these companies provide ISP services as a different company from NTT East and West.
NTT East and West can do it only in the "Wholesale (wholesale) service" that bridge the user and ISP.This is because the activities of NTT East and West are stipulated by the Act on Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Co., Ltd. (abbreviation, NTT Law) enacted in 1984.NTT East and West can provide services in the same prefecture, and the connection service to the Internet, which is a network that connects the world, rather than in the prefecture, is restricted.For this reason, access in prefectures is performed by NTT East and West, and Internet connections are shared by ISP.
Role of NGN
NTT East and West also has a huge IPv6 network, which is created to develop the FLET'S NGN Next.Until now, IPv6 has been used mainly for multimedia distribution, but has come here for Internet connection services.
NTT calls this network "NGN (NEXT GENERATION Network)".In some cases, FLET'S, a trademark of NTT East and West broadband, is sometimes called "FLET'S net".However, the "B FLET'S", the predecessor service of "FLET'S NGN Next", also used the name "FLET'S net", so using the same name may be confusing.So, in this article, I will call it NGN.NGN also means the next -generation network as a general term in the telecommunications industry, but NGN is used as a unique NTT network name here.
Two new connections
As described above, NTT East and West has specialty for both company and network.Therefore, the story was not easy to say IPv6 services.There were a number of issues to consider in providing new services, such as the issue of NGN communication and Internet communication, and the handling of a lot of routing information.
For a long time, NTT East and West, JAIPA (Japan Internet Provider Association, Japan Internet Provider Association) has been discussing the following two ways.
The "Internet (IPv6 PPPoE) connection" (hereinafter "IPv6 PPPoE Connection") was called a tunnel system and was being considered.The Internet (IPv6 IPoe) connection (hereinafter, IPv6 IPoe connection) was called a native method at the study stage.Both connection names have been officially announced in conjunction with NTT East and West announced on May 27.The names such as "tunnel method" and "native method" are continuously used as method names.
The "Internet" is attached to the head of the method because it clearly indicates that these services are Internet connection services.FLET'S Hikari Next user -only website "Service Information Site (former FLET'S Square Next)" built on NGN, uses IPv6 because it does not require Internet connection when using VPN services or Hikari telephone.The above two Internet connection services are not used (exactly, IPv6 IPOE is used for access to service information sites, but not Internet connection).
"PPPoE (PPPPOE Ethernet)" used for IPv6 PPPoE connection is a technology for creating a PPP (Point to Point) session on Ethernet and performing user authentication.Until now, B FLET'S and FLET'S Hikari Next use IPv4 PPPoE connection.This is the most common way to enter a username and password from the PPPoE client.
The IPv6 PPPoE connection is a PPPoE connection with ISP, like IPv4 PPPoE connection.You can follow the same method as before.From the ISP, it is possible to use almost the same user authentication as the previous method, and it is easy to introduce.On the other hand, both IPv6 routes to both the Internet and NGN occur.Internet access is via IPv6 PPPoE connection, but NGN will be accessed by IPv6 connection that does not use PPPoE.Thus, a state with one device has multiple IPv6 addresses is called multi -prefix.
"Internet (IPv6 PPPoE) Connection" method
As a result of the combination of IPv6 multi -prefix and NGN closed network, the packet to be sent to the Internet is sent to NGN (or vice versa), and the packet is lost and communication cannot be performed normally.This is the "multi -petific problem".It is a very special problem that occurs because NTT East and West have an IPv6 network that is large in large scale in the world that is not connected to the Internet.
In order to solve this problem, a function to manually control IPv6 routing is required.Therefore, a hardware called "IPv6 adapter" is required separately.It's similar to a broadband router.
"IPOE" used in IPv6 IPoe connection is an abbreviation of IP OVER Ethernet, meaning to send IP on Ethernet.Nothing, it refers to communication using ordinary Ethernet.In addition, it is a native method used during the examination stage, but this also means "natural way".It was called a native because it was necessary to compare PPPoE expressions, so it was a "natural way without PPPoE".In other words, it is the IPoE that connects normally and the meaning of native.
Mechanism of "Internet (IPv6 IPoe) connection"
The IPv6 IPoe connection is connected to the FLET'S NGN Next.Using the NGN IPv6 infrastructure, the IPv6 address is automatically configured on the computer, and directly IPv6 communication is performed without PPPoE.There is an inconvenience that the user applies for a line and the line is fixed, but it can be used without changing the environment so far.
The IPv6 IPoE connection performs NGN and IPv6 directly.Therefore, there is only one route destination, and there is no multi -petific problem such as IPv6 PPPoE connection.Rather than connecting to ISP for NGN technical reasons, it is connected to the Internet via a "native connection company", but it is not conscious as a user.
In the native method, it was considered that the unique IPv6 routing information of the connected ISP must be held in NGN.If the ISP, which is 300 companies, entered NGN, it seems that there was a technical judgment that all ISP routing information could not be managed with NGN network devices.As a result, instead of directly connecting the ISP, the number was limited to three companies, the three native connection companies were connected to NGN, and the ISP was connected to this native connection company.This avoided the problem of not being able to manage routing information.
